Interserve, the cleaning, maintenance and building services company, has won a place on the Environment Agency's £500m flood defence, waterways and water resources programme.
There are six other contractors in the programme that will be divided into two parts - core and coastal work. Interserve will be involved only with the core area and the company expects to win up to £70m worth of work.
