WOMBWELL and Darfield campaigners who are STILL suffering from the 2007 floods are incensed at the DIY defence approach taken by the authorities.
Flood wardens Pete Bradshaw and John Bannister blasted the
lack of new flood walls, just as an exhibition is due to be staged at Barnsley
on self-protection for flood victims.
Stonyford Road residents fear Government cuts may mean they never see the £3
million wall that consultants say they must have.
And Wombwell warden Mr Bradshaw joined Darfield campaigners in slamming work
done on a fish ladder on the River Dearne, instead of on a vital flood barrier.
He said: "If I lived on Church View, I would have picketed the river. That's how
strongly I feel!"
