The
Jubilee River
independent
e-mag.
Flooding: A
critical review of causes, consequences, and probability reduction.
This
independent e-mag was initially created to expose
and highlight
Environment Agency incompetence and failure
on the £110m Jubilee River flood alleviation project in Datchet, but now reveals the
facts and the truth about
sub-standard flood defences
nationwide, flood defence failures, neglect of watercourse maintenance
(thus increasing the probability of flooding), house insurance
difficulties, continuing development on flood plain and related matters
of national significance, especially responsibility without
accountability, and finally the Environment Agency culture of 'smug arrogance' and neglect of 'duty of care' and
their shortage of both engineering and mathematical expertise.
Unfortunately the Environment Agency can no longer be trusted and are
not 'fit for purpose'.

Brandesburton and North Frodingham Flood Action Group (BNFFAG) have
organised a public meeting with agency officials to be held on Monday,
November 24, at the Beeford Community Centre, Main Street, Beeford, near
Driffield, at 7pm.

Jean
Venables ('Jubilee River' Jean) - appointed ICE President
Mrs Venables was Chairman of the Thames Region Flood
Defence Committee for many years during the construction of the £110m MWEFAS
project (later
known as the Jubilee River), leaving
soon after the January 2003 flood event.
Mrs Venables was then awarded an OBE for 'Services
to flood defence' in the 2004 New Year's Honours.
'Do we really want to highlight these in public'
(Barbara Young - EA CEO - Nov 2003)
“We know
the Jubilee River works, there is no question about it. Nonetheless, the
Atkins reviews do raise important concerns that the Environment Agency
is addressing with urgency.”
(Chris Birks - EA Thames region director - August 2004)
'a
monument to EA skills shortage'
(Prof. Knight in evidence to
House of Commons EFRA Committee)

The EA empire builders continue to give excuses
and deny responsibility for flooding, yet demand more money, power and
influence without being accountable to the people who pay their wages! I have no confidence that these office-bound button
pushers (tied by internal conflicts of interest) are capable of doing
the right job right.
